Richie McCaw is a retired New Zealand rugby player born on December 31, 1980. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest rugby players of all time, earning numerous accolades for his performances on the field.

Early Life
McCaw was born in Oamaru, New Zealand, and grew up playing rugby from a young age. He attended Otago Boys' High School, where he played for the school's first XV, before moving on to play for the Otago provincial team.

Rugby Career
McCaw's professional career began in 2001 when he made his debut for the Crusaders in Super Rugby. He quickly established himself as a star player, and went on to play for the team for 14 seasons, helping lead them to seven Super Rugby titles.

In addition to his success with the Crusaders, McCaw was also a key member of the New Zealand national team, the All Blacks, for over a decade. He made his debut for the All Blacks in 2001, and went on to earn over 148 caps for the team - more than any other player in history - serving as team captain for the last 10 years of his career.
